Cala Jannita beach - or "beach of the islet of Santo Janni", located opposite - it is perhaps better known as the SPIAGGIA NERA Beach for the characteristic color of its sand of clear volcanic origin.
Located north of Punta della Matrella in Marina di Maratea, the SPIAGGIA NERA (Black) Beach is surrounded by dense vegetation and has become one of the most popular beaches of Maratea by guests.
You can walk from the car park in a short street immersed in the vegetation that ends with a staircase that leads to the sea level.
On the SPIAGGIA NERA Beach is the cave of Sciabella, which encloses itself a small beach and around which revolve legendary stories told by older women of Marina di Maratea.
It is said that a faithless woman named Isabella, who used this cave to enjoy the game of love with her lover, only to be discovered by her husband, who killed her making her fall from the hole opening in the roof of the cave.
