Parking lots in Maratea

Park your car in Maratea: in the Old Town, at Christ, at the Port or at the sea

The parking suggestions for Maratea shown in this page are essentially useful in the summer when, due to the particular geographic conformation of the territory of Maratea, it may be a bit more difficult to find parking.
In reality there are various solutions to park both in the historic center and at the sea, just know what to do and what not to do ....

Note : in case of special events or for other needs some of the suggested solutions may not be available: it is good practice to always be attentive to the communications of the Municipal Police, on the luminous signs or with the appropriate signs, and above all respecting them.

Car parks of the Historical Center

The so-called Historical Center is almost entirely viable only on foot or limited to the vehicular traffic of the residents; the only driveway is however limited traffic in some time slots in summer.

To avoid emptying without finding a place for your car, the recommended parking areas, marked as all others on the map in yellow, are those of Piazza Europa and Fontana Vecchio (multi-storey), from where you can reach the true historical center.

In winter, some minor car parks of the Center may also be available, however it should be noted that they contain a limited number of places.

In some cases (almost always and only in summer) the parking is paid (Fontana Vecchia) in others there may be only the time slot, or be completely free. Always check the signals once you get there.

San Biagio Basilica and Christ the Redeemer statue parking

During busy periods, typically in summer, on weekends and on spring holidays, it is not possible to arrive in the small parking lot in front of the Basilica of San Biagio but there is a convenient parking with shuttle service that serves to get to the top .

The trail takes only a few minutes because the road distance from the parking lot to the Basilica and then to the Statue of Christ is a few hundred meters (as the crow flies are 50 meters).

Parking at the Port of Maratea is not a great feat and if you are lucky it can also cost you nothing because throughout the year there are some dozens of parking spaces with discs right on the quay.

In summer, however, there is a large paid parking on the right side at the entrance to the port area or along the last piece of road leading to the Port.

Alternatively, if you want to take a nice walk in the alleys of the Port you can leave your car for free in the parking lot near the train station.

The map shows the various options, always in yellow.

Parking lots of the beaches

In the pages dedicated to the Beaches, information on the car parks is given for each beach on the coast of Maratea.

The overwhelming majority of these are paid parking and in the case of the Fiumicello beach, the car park is covered.

Many bathing establishments also have their own guarded parking lot or offer third-party parking with special rates; a good percentage of paid parking is shaded.
