The discover
The book stems from the need to stop a period of history, from the post-war period to the early '80s, of great importance and growth not only for the town of Maratea but for the entire area enclosed within the splendid Gulf of Policastro. In particular, emphasis was placed on the work, on the projects of a Piedmontese entrepreneur, precisely the Count Stefano Rivetti who arrived in Maratea in 1953, where he created a series of achievements in the textile industry, tourism, strengthening small and large infrastructural works.
So much of the territory included along the Calabrian-Tyrrhenian coast and the nearby hinterland, tells of Stefano Rivetti. Of those who hopelessly fell in love with Maratea to the point of depositing as a testamentary desire the desire to rest forever in a cave of Mount San Biagio, at the foot of the majestic statue of the Redeemer, commissioned by him in 1965.
In addition to "technical" aspects related to the creation of the Cassa per il Mezzogiorno (Institute that at the time financed the great works of Stefano Rivetti) or the project of the Scalea airport (1967), or "Pollinia" , we wanted to report events and facts closely linked to the personality of the Count, to his way of being and doing.
So they textually transcribed some of his recurring phrases, one for all:
"Doing nothing is misery for everyone and boredom for the individual"
