Capo la Nave - Renicedda beach | Cersuta Maratea
Beach of Capo la Nave - Renicedda
The Renicedda beach is a tiny stretch of sand located right under the houses of Cersuta in Maratea.
North of this beach lies the cape called Cape la Nave, which hides a sad legend.
It is said that, in a time long ago, a ship passed near the coast of Cersuta.
The peaceful voyage was however blocked by a sudden storm, which dangerously pushed the ship towards the rocks of the coast.
The captain of the ship, fearing for his life and that of his crew, including his young son, tried every means to avoid the collision, but the hand of man could do nothing against the fury of the wind and the waves: the wood of the ship shattered against the rocks of the headland, and the captain, the sole survivor, had to mourn the loss of his men and of his son.
