The Christ the Redeemer by Bruno Innocenti

THE CHRIST WHO INCARNATED THE FORM
Art, spirituality, and revelation in the Redeemer of Maratea

"A young Christ, timeless, distant from all earthly appearance: divinely new as an incarnate symbol of redeemed humanity."

In the heart of Basilicata, atop Mount San Biagio, stands the Christ the Redeemer of Maratea, a majestic and silent work by Bruno Innocenti, a reclusive but profound artist capable of blending Italian sculptural tradition with a unique spiritual sensitivity. This essay traces the genesis and meaning of the sculptor’s most imposing work, placing it in dialogue with his previous creations, particularly the figure of the Angel, a recurring and obsessive theme in his poetic world. With a critical and narrative gaze, enriched with theological, iconographic, and philosophical references—from Plotinus to Teilhard de Chardin, from Augustine to Balthasar—the author offers a deep and original reading of the work, questioning the very meaning of artistic creation.

Art, here, does not represent the sacred: it incarnates it.
A book for those who love art as revelation, beauty as truth, form as a path to the eternal.
