Parking lots

Park your car in Maratea: in the Old Town, at Christ, at the Port or at the sea

park in maratea

The parking suggestions for Maratea listed on this page are particularly useful in the summer, when, due to the specific geographical configuration of the Maratea territory, it might be a bit more difficult to find parking.

In fact, there are several solutions for parking both in the historic center and by the sea; it's just a matter of knowing what to do and what not to do....

N.B.: in case of particular manifestations or for other needs, some of the suggested solutions may not be available: it is advisable to always be attentive to the communications of the Municipal Police, on electronic boards or with appropriate signage, and above all to comply with them.

Historic Center Parking

The historic centre is almost entirely pedestrianised or restricted to residents’ vehicles. Even the only road open to other vehicles is subject to access restrictions at certain times during the summer.

To avoid driving around in circles without finding a place to park your car, the recommended parking lots, marked like all the others on the map in yellow, are those at Piazza Europa and Old Fountain (multi-level), from where a short walk takes you to the historic center proper.

In winter, there may also be some smaller parking lots available in the center; however, it is best to remember that they contain a limited number of spaces.

In some cases (almost always and only in the summer), parking is paid (Fontana Vecchia), while in others there may be only a time limit or it may be completely free. Always check the signs once you arrive.

During periods of more intense visitation, typically in the summer, on weekends and spring holidays, it is not possible to park in the small lot in front of the Basilica of Saint Blaise, but there is a convenient parking lot with shuttle service that takes visitors to the top.

Park at the Port of Maratea

Parking in the Port of Maratea is not a difficult task, and if one is lucky, it may even be free, as there are several dozen parking spaces with hourly discs right on the quay throughout the year.

In the summer, there is a paid parking lot on the right side at the entrance to the port area, or along the last stretch of road that leads to the Port.

Alternatively, if you want to take a nice walk through the alleys of the Port, you can park your car for free at the parking lot near the train station.

The various options are indicated on the map, always in yellow.

Beach parking lots

The Beaches pages provide parking information for each beach along Maratea’s coast.

In the overwhelming majority, these are paid parking lots, and in the case of Fiumicello beach, the parking lot is covered.

Many beach resorts also have their own guarded parking lots or offer third-party parking at a discounted rate; a good percentage of paid parking lots are shaded.
