Chapels in old town Maratea
The Chapels in old town
To complete the list of the 44 churches of Maratea we find the chapels, present almost everywhere in the territory.
In the historic center of the municipality, the Borgo, the distinction for oldest belongs to the so-called "Cappuccini" chapels, a complex of three chapels dedicated to St. Roch, St. George, and the Madonna of Loreto, located near the church of St. Anthony of the former Capuchin convent, which houses frescoes from the 15th century.
Very beautiful is the representation of the Madonna with St. Blaise and St. Roch, placed in the first chapel on the left.

Above the Capuchin Chapels is the large chapel of Madonna delle Grazie, which is currently under restoration.
The dilapidated chapel of S. Francesco de’ Poverelli, recently completely restored, is located in the lower district of the Borgo.
Inside it preserves a fresco from the XVI-XVII century, representing the Madonna della Mercede flanked by S. Biagio and S. Francesco d’Assisi.
Near Sospiro Road is the private chapel of St. Bernard, the only witness to a Cistercian grange of the sixteenth century.
Inside there is a beautiful fresco of the same period.
Near the Fontana Vecchia locality is the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, a simple shrine built in 1932 that recreates the encounter of the Immaculate Conception with Bernadette.
Cona newsstand

Continuing from the Capuchin Chapels towards the heart of the Historic Center, descending along the characteristic street called Pendinata,
one finds the Cona kiosk, a small building that houses a 16th-century fresco, attributed to Luca da Eboli, depicting the Madonna in Glory with Child and Adoring Angels.
