The Tour of Italy in Panda
On his journey in a Fiat Panda along all the coasts of Italy, Serra encounters one of the most enchanting sights of his trip: Maratea.
"Take one of the most sacred themes to Italians: vacations, seaside vacations; add thousands of kilometers of coasts and of “cheery seaside towns”; entrust comments and reflections to a journalist endowed with imagination and sensitivity; stir it all and there you have it: the cocktail:Everyone to the Sea.
Everyone to the Sea is the travel diary that Michele Serra wrote in August 85, traveling the beaches of the peninsula as a correspondent for La Stampa.
The readers' appreciation was so vast that the reportage was collected and published a year later in a small book that literally flew off the shelves.
On the wave of this unexpected success, Everyone to the Sea, enriched by the illustrations of Sergio Staino, the popular cartoonist of Bobo, has continued its tour among bookstores and newsstands, where it still sells well and can be purchased in its fifth reprint.
Not bad for the "delirious proposal," which was accepted because "in August, to fill the newspapers, one is willing to do anything."
