Maratea. How to get there and how to move

How to get to Maratea and information on public transport with local bus and train timetables to move within the Maratea territory.

Maratea is known for having inhabited villages scattered in a vast territory, villages that, by the satellite system, gravitate around the Old Town.
The only coast stretches for about 32 km and the mountain hamlets are many minutes away by car from the sea.
For this reason it becomes important for the car to move to Maratea and it is indispensable, in its absence, to rely on local transport.

For connections to and from other locations see the page on how to get to Maratea

or that of the  Trains to & from Maratea

Please read  the pages dedicated to urban transport where you will find useful information on public transport as well as  bus timetables and  local train timetables along the coast for within the territory of Maratea.

To use the bus or train we jokingly called Metro-Maratea as the railway line runs along the coast and the three stations can be used as access doors to the beaches, especially those of Marina and Acquafredda but also that central of Maratea (especially convenient to reach the port)

SOME TIPS TO GET AROUND

Once you get off at the Marina station you can easily reach the beaches of Calaficarra or that of "'a Scala" respectively called Marina Grande and Marina Piccola. From the Acquafredda or Maratea C. stations the beach is reachable but a little less easily as the stretch of road and / or path to be traveled is longer. Alternatively, Maratea Centrale you can possibly use the urban bus service to go to the Fiumicello beach.
Still with the Urban Bus you can reach the historic center or the port, villages that can still be reached on foot through a pedestrian path that connects the historic center to the port passing right from the Maratea station. Please note that the urban service operates intensively only in summer. For the other periods, check the scheduled times.
